LA PAZ CITY

La Paz was founded on 20th of October of 1548, by the Spanish Captain ALONSO DE MENDOZA for orders of the Viceroy Pedro de la Gasca. The city received the name of Nuestra señora de La Paz, the same one is located to the northwest of Bolivia with an extension of 133.985 Km², headquarters of the central Government and capital of the Department of the same name, located 3640 meters above the level of the sea, with a population of 793,293 (Census of 2001 INE)
