CLIMBING HUAYNA POTOSI (6,080 M.A.S.L.)

Huayna Potosi ( 6.080 m .a.s.l.), is situated to 25 Km . from the city of La Paz . The mountain is busy. Its normal route is easily accessible by road La Paz-Zongo.
The mountain Huayna Potosi joins the line of the Cordillera Real by a string of smaller but abrupt peaks. The Huayna Potosi presents a special attraction, an aesthetic attraction to the mountaineer. In recent years, the normal has been scrambling hundreds of times per season, which is comparable to Huascaran in the Cordillera Blanca in Peru .
The best time for climbing in the Cordillera Real is between the months of May and October, when rainfall is minimal and the skies are clear enough.

PROGRAM WITH 3 days / 2 nights

ITINERARY:
Day 01. Hours 9:00 A.M. We start with the pickup of tourists from their hotels in La Paz , to go in private transport to the refuge of "Step of Zongo" a journey of about an hour and a half, our journey will pass in front of the ski center of Chacaltaya and small gap "Milluni." Safe arrival from Huayna Potosi 4.720 m .a.s.l. (Base Camp). After lunch we climb the Old Glacier, practice to be able to climb and acclimatize.
Return to the base camp (Refuge Huayna Potosi) and rest.

Day 02. After breakfast, we cross the embankment of the reservoir of the dam of Zongo, bordering the lake until the start of the trail that is at the top, continuing along a hillside and after four hours of trekking arrive at the camp in height ( 5.500 m .a.s.l.), called " Argentinean Camp". This camp is located in a plain at the foot of the steep slopes and sharp ice which is scaled to the next day.

Day 03. This day will begin climbing very early 3:00 a.m. We leave lighted by lanterns Camp Argentine-Cima of Huayna Potosi. ( 6.080 m .a.s.l.), after four to five hours of climbing, we will reach the peak and pricing power of the wonderful view of the highlands of the Cordillera Real and Lake Titicaca.
Then descend to Base Camp and Private transportation to La Paz .
